Louisa County Lions Club

About the Louisa Lions

The Louisa County Lions Club was chartered in 1952 to do the work of Lionism in Louisa County. Our primary work is sight and hearing conservation, but we do so much more. The Lions Club motto is “We Serve” and club members go about serving the needs and supporting causes in the County in an enjoyable way. We think of ourselves as good people, doing good things, and having a good time doing it!

OUR MEMBERS
There are approximately 50 members from all over the County in the Louisa County Lions Club. We have older members, younger members, lifelong Louisans and “come heres”. Some are retired; most are still working. Regardless, we share common interests, Lionism and serving Louisa.

WHEN DO WE MEET?
We meet on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7PM, at Tanyard Country Club. Social hour is in the Tanyard Bar at 6PM. Club Board meetings are prior to each meeting.

WHAT DO WE DO?
Our primary support is to sight and hearing impaired who need our assistance. Other local support includes:
• Louisa Little League
• Boy Scouts
• Scholarships to high school graduates
• Projects sponsored by other Civic organizations
• Holiday gifts for needy families
• Sight and hearing screening
• The Miss Louisa Beauty Pageant
• The Bland Music Contest

This past year we provided eye and ear exams for more than 50 people in Louisa County.

HOW DO WE DO THIS?
Our primary fundraising projects include:
• The Lions Club Yard Sales
• White Cane Days
• The Beauty Pageant

We raised approximately $19,000 through our various fundraising projects. More than 80% of this money supports Lions’ work here in Louisa. The other 20% supports State and International Lions projects, such as the Leader Dog Program and maintaining the District’s Sight and Hearing Mobile Screening Unit that we use to screen school children and at county events.
